Formed in 1945 in Sweden, Saab AB’s premiere model, the Saab 92, was launched in 1949.
In 1968 the company merged with Scania-Vabis, launching the best-selling Saab 900 a decade later.
In 1989, General Motors took 50% ownership, buying the remaining half in 2000. Ten years on, GM sold Saab Automobile AB to the Dutch company Spyker Cars, who in turn sold to National Electric Vehicle Sweden in 2012; but it wasn’t until 2013 that the first Saab-branded vehicle produced by Nevs rolled off of the assembly line.
