First founded in 1878, Rover began car manufacture in 1904 and has been retained as a now-dormant marque despite being merged several times over with various brands.
Various well-known Rover Models emerged under different owners including the 1970 Range Rover under British Leyland, and the mini City Rover under MG.
In 1994 Rover was bought by BMW, who sold to Ford in 2006. In 2008 India’s Tata Motors agreed to include the Rover marque in the sale of their Jaguar Land Rover interest.
