In London in 1896, Gottlieb Daimler created the first high-speed petrol engine, a concept he shared with his friend, engineer Frederick Richard Simms, thus giving birth to the Daimler Motor Vehicle Company.
In 1896 Harry Lawson bought the company and in 1898, Daimler became the official transportation of royalty.
In 1910, Daimler Motor Company merged with BSA. Wartime civil aviation, motorcycle, limousine and bus production followed.
In 1960 BSA sold Daimler to Jaguar, who on-sold to Ford and finally Tata, who today classify the interest as “non-trading”.
