Driving in the right direction with Kumho
Kumho has expanded its European Technical Centre (KETC) with the creation of an innovative new tyre testing facility at Papenburg in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Kumho are increasing their technological capabilities in line with the increase of Original Equipment (OE) contracts with European vehicle manufacturers market .
The added workload on the Kumho ETC has resulted in the facility now testing more than 3,000 tyres per year.
This facility has been particularly designed to encompass, subjective handling, wet handling characteristics, aquaplaning, driving comfort, interior/exterior noise, braking on all surfaces which can be used to further strengthen the Kumho brand.
The new centre adds to the expanding network of Technical centres in Spain, Italy, Germany and Finland. This is further proof that Kumho are dedicated to ensuring that they are at the cutting edge of tyre technology.
The reward for Kumho’s continuing investment in R&D was made apparent with the company recently winning major OE supply contracts with Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz.
Kumho R&D also involves a range of real world testing programs across the world, including here in Australia where Kumho has undertaken a number of significant development programs particularly for all terrain SUV/4WD tyres as well as some unique heavy truck and trailer rubber along with various car tyre programs.
According to Kumho Tyre Australia national marketing and training manager David Basha, the new European research and development facility will result in even higher quality tyres for Australia.
“Globally Kumho strives to innovate and develop more advanced, durable and efficient tyres,” said David Basha.
“Expanding the research and development network is a clear demonstration of Kumho’s drive and desire to continually improve the products it produces for it’s diverse global market,” he added.
